are not centrally regulated, but are fixed separately by each community and school. The British government has put up for England an online-service, with which it is possible to inquire about all the holiday dates of the individual schools. School Holidays and Public Holidays – General Info

The setting of the school holidays is handled in different states despite some national particularities according to a similar pattern. In the whole of Europe, the holidays are concentrated on three time periods: summer, Christmas and New Year as well as spring and Easter. In addition, in most of the states you find autumn- and winter holidays or carnival holidays and rather seldom holidays in the last quarter of the school year or during Whitsun. In addition to these holiday times, in all states there are up to ten special days, which in general correspond to legal and religious public holidays. In some states, these festivals are movable.
